I just got word that the Rector of the University of Firenze has vindicated Marco Ruggiero of all charges of improper conduct. I reported on this controversy in a couple of earlier posts (here and here).
Anonymous and out-of-control AIDS drug apologists initiated an online smear campaign to discredit Ruggiero’s research efforts. Fortunately, calmer minds were able to see through the subterfuge and recognize the campaign of distortion and misinformation for what it was.
Ruggiero wrote me yesterday:
Dear Jonathan,
Today I received an official, certified, mail from the Rector of the University of Firenze stating (improptu translation).
“… the inquiry could not find elements of responsibility that request sanctions…”
In other words, complete absolution.
I wish to thank you for your support and efforts, This victory of ours comes exactly three years after the victory in Berkeley. I am convinced that your support was fundamental and I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Yours
Marco
Congratulations to Marco Ruggiero and to Italy’s continued support of academic freedom.
🙂
what about the criminal case
he started against the accusers, how is that going?
Paul,
According to Dr. Ruggiero: ” The criminal case is proceeding and my attorney told me that there should be a hearing sometime around October. The letter from the Rector with my absolution obviously reinforces my claim that the letter from Dora was a defamatory one. We shall see.”
Thank you for the update
Well done Jonathon and thanks.
